About Kiefer Slaton

One short glass of milk.

Much of Kiefer’s day involves writing some code, shaking his head and muttering to himself, “No, that’s wrong,” asking a chatbot for a fix, muttering to himself, “No, that’s wrong,” and then eating some oats. But our websites always work in the end, so it’s a winning process.

Q&A

  • What are you looking forward to most about working at Mad Genius?

Mad Genius is an agency that stays in touch with its playful side and is not afraid to get a little weird. Every project and every workday are unique experiences. Creating and problem-solving are what get me up in the morning, and I'm truly grateful to get to do that every day at Mad Genius.

  • Tell us about a place you visited and something you loved about it.

I went to Singapore on a work trip several years ago, and it's like stepping into an alternate universe. The buildings are wild, abstract works of architecture with lush green plants growing on the roof and along the walls, making the city literally look like a concrete jungle. Nestled throughout are huge, sprawling parks and botanical gardens where thousands of people gather for outdoor concerts and other community gatherings almost every night. It's just a gorgeous country and absolutely a bucket-list location for anyone who loves nature.

  • What is the single greatest creative work you’ve ever experienced?

I'm a big music and musical theater guy, and I was lucky enough to see a live production of “Once,” a musical based on the Irish film scored by Glen Hansard. It was out of this world. There is no orchestra; the 13-person cast accompanies itself, each member playing a different folk instrument as they sing and act. In some numbers, they're playing while dancing really elaborate choreography (including the cellist). The level of talent of that cast, and the way they were so in sync with one another, is something I've never witnessed since.
